Andrew HughesWith the struggle for competitive advantage set to continue throughout the age of business, and the need to meet the demands of employees, it pays dividends to create a flexible and technology-enabled learning ecosystem that can foster the future generations in the workforce.

During this Table Talk, we will discuss the best practices that companies should consider to include the use of mobile technology, the adoption of social and adaptive learning tools, proper alignment with corporate objectives, and the ability to measure effectiveness. We will also review short and long term approaches, such as Virtual Reality, Gamification, Serious Game, and Augmented Reality, and how to support those in the future of workplace learning.

    , Professor at the University of Cincinnati, and is a consultant for ACICS and HLC as Curriculum evaluator. Andrew's mission is to deliver innovative learning solutions that educate in a way that allows individuals to retain information effectively and be engaged throughout the learning experience.


    How did you get started in your field?
    Started as a Technology Coordinator at 9 District Schools, after Undergrad I was hired by an eLearning company and from there ended up working on Jet Engine / Turbine / Rocket Engine training / eLearning for General Electric.

    What 3 words describe you best, personally or professionally?
    Blunt, Friendly, Helpful

    What did you want to be when you grew up? OR If you didn't do what you do now, what profession would you choose?
    Batman....and still wish I was Batman! I would be in astrophysics or a farmer

    What is a piece of advice you would share with emerging professionals?
    Talk is cheap, let's see your work! Show your work, and your work ethic.

    What is one of your greatest accomplishments?
    Building a multi-million dollar business with no loans, no capital, and it's been growing for 15 years straight. Working for the U.S. Department of Education in Office of Innovation to build games for learning before STEM existed. Won a 7 figure dollar contracts from the Federal Government, and a father of 2 children.

    What are you looking forward to the most at this year's conference?
    Nerding it up with like-minded people

    What is a talent you have that is unrelated to the work you do?
    I can say my alphabet backwards!

    What excites you most about the topic you will be sharing at the conference?
    Helping people understand learning and gaming
