Greetings Learning Leaders! Welcome to Fall! As a follow-up to our September conversation on Micro-Learning and at the suggestion of one of our regular Forum members, we are going a little off the beaten path this month with an exploration on the topic of Performance Support and how it relates to the future of Training and Development in organizations. 

Some questions we’ll consider:

  • What is performance support?
  • How does it differ from training?
  • As training (learning) migrates away from ‘formal’ to ‘informal micro-learning’, are there examples in which training and performance support are becoming one-and-the-same?
  • Are there tools that serve as performance support that we don’t traditionally think of as performance support (e.g. social media)?
  • How are people using performance support for different roles (e.g. service-based roles vs. production-based roles)? 

Consider it an Autumn excursion with knowledgeable colleagues and you are invited to participate! (As Robert Frost would remind us . . . we’re taking a road less traveled by and that can make all the difference.) 

Our open forum format is built on the practice of mutual learning and the collective genius that emerges from sharing our questions, comments and experiences with our Learning Leader peers in an informal setting. We invite you to add your voice to the conversation.
