It is the new year and time to think about learning again, most importantly to think about our learners.

Spaced Learning is not a new method, but how familiar are you with this approach? Statistics show an increase in long term knowledge retention up to 170% and boosts learner proficiency by 17% on average. We need to eliminate the “forgetting curve” in our culture. How to create great learning retention has always been a challenge. We will discuss some ideas that may minimize those challenges.

Since it is the new year and everyone is setting new goals, let’s talk about setting the right goals. Are we encouraging stretch goals? That stretch goal is the sweet spot, that is both achievable and yet challenging. Research suggests that mastery-approach goals lead to better outcomes. Are we working toward performance goals or mastery goals? We’ll discuss both and how we can encourage our learners toward the mastery approach.

Below are two articles that will spark our discussion.
