In November 2020 I registered up two employees within my organization for the ATD Instructional Design Certificate. It was part of a pilot learning plan I created to create internal skills in ISD since are model has been to contract vendors. They both loved the weekly course, especially the fact that they were asked to bring a real project to work on as they learned the processes and concepts.
Great question Kate!
I decided on the Online Consortium's Instructional Design Certificate. It was a four-course sequence, which I found very beneficial because it introduced a lot of resources in the field and connected me with other instructional designers.
That is before I knew anything about ATD, which has its own ID certificate.
Those are the two I know of. They were better for me because I didn't want to pursue another master's degree so they scoped right for me.
I am practiced in instructional design, but don't have formal training beyond a Xavier Leadership Train the Trainer course. Do people have thoughts on the best program? I am looking to get a formal certification, but doesn't need to be a big program at all. I'm looking for less of the theory A-Z and more of the "what's the next best stuff I can apply immediately" curriculum. Thoughts?
