Hello everyone,
In the spirit of last year and in the spirit of sharing, I thought I would put together a list of the activities and ideas we are conducting for this years ATD Employee Learning Week. Hopefully you all will take some of these ideas back to your teams and maybe share some of your ideas. Remember, it doesn't have to be a special week to highlight learning! I am happy to go into more depth on how we are doing these activities.
This year we setup shop in our corporate headquarters lobby and:
- Encouraging everyone in the company to take a blank card and fill it out thanking someone else who has helped them learn or grow professionally (a big hit!)
- Bringing resources to the teams. We setup shop in our corporate headquarters lobby and promoted all of the resources L&D has for their growth.
- Having team members all volunteer to network with a different team member across the organization. We had a form to signup (both virtually and a paper copy) we then paired team members up ensuring they were talking to someone not in their direct function. We also provided starter questions for them to ask during a virtual or in person "interview" that should be no more than a half hour.
- Encouraged team members to learn about a skill (ten skills were selected based on competencies). They are to debrief their learning with their manager and send a recap to L&D for a chance to win a prize.
- Had team members take a card and write a commitment to themselves on how they would plan to learn or grow professionally in the next six months. They seal the envelopes up and send to L&D for safekeeping, in six months they will be returned.
- (The only non-lobby activity) Doing an open house in our L&D space. All teams are welcome to stop in where we will give them an overview of the various services we provide as well as asking their input on topics they would like to learn more about.
Happy sharing!
